Matti Caspi broadcasts on Radio mix

In the years 2000-2001 Matti Caspi broadcasted regularly on Radio Mix - 104 North.
The two hour program was called “Friday is Back” and it included music edited by Caspi, recipes, discussions and premiere playing of his new songs.

On his program from February 23rd 2001, Caspi reacts to what was published about him in the press. Here are the things he said exactly the way he said it, unedited:

“Most citizens read the newspapers and I want to use this radio station to explain some issues, in ordert o reach a certain balance. It’s about me after all.
So there were some things that were published in the newspapers etc. and I would like to throw one or two sentences about it during the program, and here’s the first: an agent can’t exist without an artist. But an artist can exist without an agent. All the financial activity of the artist is usually managed by the agent. And there were cases in which artists sued their agents and vice versa, all regarding money. But if you pay close attention, you’ll see that the agent manages all the artist’s income.

The process of bankruptcy is one in which you solve many debt problems. And in the end you proclaim a person you can’t take anything else from, and there’s only a cash box where all the money was gathered etc. you proclaim that person as bankrupted since they can’t afford to pay their debts.

That’s not the case with me. They want to proclaim me bankrupted but I’ve started a process of receivership, because as you remember, I came to Israel to solve my problems. And so, the receivership fund is growing. For eleven years I haven’t received my funds from AKUM. It was all confiscated to some crediters. Luckily last year when the receivership fund was finally opened, all the funds from AKUM and other sources of royalties began flooding into that fund and made it rapidly larger. All the money from my shows and concerts are going into that fund. I don’t get to see one cent from them, and I only receive an allowance from the state, like a sort of salary, which I need to live by. I hope that next year I’ll be able to solve all my problems.

There is another direction that goes by the same name. I too am under the same process called bankruptcy, but in the end of that process I’m not proclaimed bankrupted because I make money. And lots of it. Since this is the situation, I can’t be proclaimed bankrupted, instead they have to check the credibility of all the creditors, especially some agents. And they fear that moment because it’s most likely they’ll discover they actually owe me. Like I told you in the beginning - an agent can’t exist without an artist, but not the other way around. And the agent manages the artist’s income and not vice versa.

Since my agent creditors fear the moment their credibility will be checked, they are trying their hardest to proclaim me as bankrupted, because then they will be able to get a slice from what’s in that fund before the credibility check.

And now we arrive at the moment of truth where it will turn out differently than what you read in the newspapers. I don’t read newspapers, I haven’t for six years, but sadly I am forced to react sometimes so that people won’t think it’s true. So I’m using this radio station, which is loved by you and me, to say these things. They are the absolute truth and time will tell.

I’ve said some difficult things, but I feel obliged to say them. I assume that this weekend and the next one, you’ll read in the newspapers that I don’t buy, all kinds of things from stories that were filed that they resurrected for the raitings. I will of course do anything I can to at least convince those who hear me live, because then you can’t take anything out of context, and you can do that in the newspapers, and you will believe me”.
