A new single - There’s No One Like Her

Five years since his last album, Matti Caspi releases a fine first single from an upcoming album and reminds us again of his enormous talent and musical uniqueness, which have made him responsible for many of the songs that have become classics in Israeli music.

The lyrics of this new single were written by Danny Robas, who has collaborated with Caspi in the past, but this time they work together as creating artists.

To produce this song about yearning, Caspi has chosen Yoad Nevo who has done a marvelous and sensitive production as well as played other instruments besides Caspi’s piano recording.

Yossi Harsonsky: “This is what winter does to a lonely and yearning soul. Winter itself is ‘full of yearning’, let alone when we’re talking about personal loneliness - ‘I’m alone in bed / the light in the living room isn’t on anymore, there are no wrinkles on the sheets of her image’. The song starts with a harmonic, church-like singing, and then comes the piano and the sad and beautiful singing voice of Matti Caspi, which contains the depth of the sadness, and all the longing and yearning in life in the background.
It’s a song that contains the essence of Matti Caspi’s musicality, who is able to accurately sketch the sense of emptiness of the yearning soul, in a musically rich production which empowers the expression of that feeling, with the harmonies, the effective piano bridge, and the backing vocals that provide a strong protecting shield. This is the Caspi I’ve been missing for some years. This is a Caspi like whom there’s no one else”.

In an interview with Avner Hopstein at Galatz, told Caspi that the song “There’s No One Like Her” was born out of the friendship with Danny Robas. “I felt it was natural to hand him the music because I knew it would affect him in a way that would be most suitable for the words” he shared.

“According to him, ‘it’s like any newborn baby. There’s an excitement and anticipation, and there’s of course hope that what moves me will also move the listeners”. Caspi added: “My life and my music are one. It’s what I feel, breathe and do - that’s how it’s always been my entire life”.

“I perform in different ensembles and also in a new show recently” he told, “I’m writing a classic piece for the Rishon Lezion Symphony and I’ve written more songs. ‘There’s No One Like Her’ is the first bud from the rest of the songs released in the album”.
